National Eagle Scout Association Committee
The National Eagle Scout Association is composed of Eagle Scouts from across the nation. The committee focuses on supporting local council NESA committees.

- Houston, TX
Frank Tsuru co-founded
Momentum and currently serves as its CEO. In addition to his executive role at Momentum, he serves as President
and CEO at Indigo Minerals Inc.
graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering
in 1982. His first assignment was as a
drilling and production engineer for TXO Production Corp. in Denver, CO. Following
TXO’s asset sale and merger, Tsuru founded Southwestern
Production, a company focused on the Coal Bed Methane development in the San
Juan Basin of SW Colorado. That company
was sold to Conoco Phillips and Tsuru was tapped to run the Southern Ute Indian
Tribe’s midstream company, Red Cedar Gathering. In 2002, Tsuru started Aka Energy, another successful midstream company
for the Tribe before starting Momentum.
very involved with community organizations. He currently serves as the board chair for Yellowstone Academy, a
faith-based school, serving elementary age students living in extreme poverty.
Additionally, Tsuru is Vice-Chairman of the Star of Hope Mission, an
organization started in 1907 to serve the homeless in Houston. Frank is an Eagle Scout and is active with
the Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, serving as past chairman
of the board. The Tsuru family has spent
the past six summers in Lusaka, Zambia serving AIDS orphans through a USA,
Christian-based organization called Family Legacy Missions International
(FLMI). Finally, Frank is very involved
with his church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian.
Chair - Central Region
Bob is a partner in the law office of Brown Hay & Stephens and specializes in estate planning, probate, and trust. A Distinguished Eagle Scout, Bob has served as council and area president, as his local council’s National Eagle Scout Association chair, and as his council’s trust and endowment chair.
Bob is also heavily involved in other national and international nonprofit organizations.
Chair - Northeast Region
Bill is President, CEO of MCA, Inc. in Poughkeepsie, NY. MCA is an award-winning document management company.
Bill, an Eagle Scout, has served as President or Chairman of the Board of the following entities: Hudson Valley Council, Private Industry Council Dutchess and Putnam Counties, Dutchess County Community College, American Heart Association,Vassar Medical Center, United Way of Dutchess County, Community Foundation of Dutchess County. He serves on the Northeast Region Board as Council Operations VP.
Bill and his wife Patricia reside in Millbrook, NY and have two grown sons, Ross and Chase.

Randy L. Potts
Chair - Southern Region
Randy, a NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout
Award recipient, is the executive senior manager with Focal Point Data Risk,
LLC. Randy also is a founding member of the InfraGard – National Members
Alliance program. Initiated by the
Federal Bureau of Investigations as a private/public partnership, InfraGard was
designed to facilitate information sharing and intelligence between businesses,
academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and others dedicated
to prevent hostile cyber acts against the United States. Randy was instrumental in the growth of the
organization to over fifty-thousand members nationwide since its inception in
Randy is a member of the Coastal
Carolina Council executive board and currently serves as the VP of Finance.
In addition, Randy serves as a member of the national committee for Scouting
Alumni & Friends where he is instrumental in the daily management of Alumni
social media. He serves as the vice
chairman of the National Organization of Sea Scout Alumni.
Randy is the recipient of Silver
Beaver award; Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow; Good Shepard, Baptist religious
award; a NESA Legacy Society Founding
Fellow; Second Century - lifetime investor; and, a Baden-Powell Fellow.
He and his wife, Kimberley, have
raised eight children and are the proud grandparents of four beautiful
Chair - Western Region
Rich Brenner is the founder and CEO of The Brenner Group Inc. His firm provides specialized financial and management services.
Rich has received many distinctions in Scouting, including the Silver Antelope Award, Silver Beaver Award, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor, Baden-Powell Society member, and Second Century Society member. Rich serves as a member of the board of directors for the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which he also has served as chairman of the board, and the Western Region of the BSA as the Scouting Alumni and Friends chair.
Rich and his wife Beth are proud parents of Eagle Scout Jim Brenner, his wife, Lara, and granddaughter Lily.
- Fort Worth, TX
As an entrepreneur in the upstream oil and gas business,
Glenn has formed, grown and sold several investor backed companies. He was an
early mover in the first shale gas resource development in the USA.
serves as a member of the National Executive Board and National Foundation of
the Boy Scouts of America. He served as President of the National Eagle Scout
Association for 8 years and is Chairman of the BSA National Florida High
Adventure Sea Base. Actively involved in his local scout troop and council, he
helped as a Scoutmaster of a
100+ boy troop. He has served on the Executive Board of the Longhorn Council in
a variety of positions including Council Commissioner and Council President in
addition to 4 years as BSA Southern Region Area 2/3 President.
Glenn has been
awarded the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, National Alumnus of the Year,
Silver Buffalo, Antelope and Beaver and the Celtic Cross.
Glenn is a member of the finance committee and executive
committee and board of directors of the Texas Ballet Theatre, and has had board
level involvement in other nonprofits, including the Fort Worth Opera and First
Presbyterian Church Fort Worth where he is an Elder.
In the energy business he
served on the board of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the
Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
He and is wife Melinda have four children (3 Eagle Scout sons).
- Seeley Lake, MT
Steve is a retired Veterinarian who has been recognized as a
Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of
Georgia. Steve was Hospital Director of
an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) certified hospital for over a
quarter of a century.
Steve is a recipient of the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope,
Silver Buffalo, the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and is a Vigil Honor. He
currently serves on the National NESA Committee as VP of Membership. Other current
duties in Scouting include membership on the National Cub Scout, Boy Scout and
Program Development Committees, as well as Chairman of the Montana NESA
Committee in the Montana Council. For
many years he served on the National Advancement Committee and headed the New
Merit Badge Development team. He has served on the staff of seven National
Jamborees and six World Jamborees.
Steve and his wife Debby have five children (3 Eagle Scout

Rick is president of Philanthropy1TM consulting in Richmond, Virginia, providing board development, communications, and philanthropic services nationwide. A Distinguished Eagle Scout, Silver Buffalo recipient and lifelong Scouter, he has been involved with Scouting Alumni and Friends since its beginning, presenting at Philmont Training Center, Boy Scouts of America National Annual Meetings, and “road shows” across the country. A former council NESA and SAF Committee chair, he also serves as a vice president of the National NESA Committee.
He and his wife Debbie have one daughter, Kelsey, who served on the Philmont summer staff.

James is Senior Vice President, Research, of Global Strategy Group, a leading public affairs firm. He has directed research for clients such as the National Research Council, Trust for Public Land, The Wilderness Society, WGBH-Education Foundation, and Comcast, and served as the lead research analyst for Senator Joe Manchin, West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, and several members of Congress. James has been named a "Rising Star of Politics" by Campaigns & Elections magazine.
James is also an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and former NE-1B Section Chief.
He lives with his wife, Dr. Angela Ryan, and son, Perrin, in Connecticut.

Ray Capp has
over 25 years of executive leadership experience in the distribution,
healthcare IT, publishing, and entertainment industries. Ray served as COO at
Ingram Entertainment from its founding to over $1 billion in sales, and as EVP
at Thomas Nelson Publishers, one of the top 10 publishers in the English
language. Ray is also a successful
author and inventor.
Ray is a Silver Buffalo Award recipient and has received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and National Alumnus of the Year Award. Ray is a Trustee of the (William) Green Bar Bill Hillcourt Foundation and has served as Chairman of the Order of the Arrow. He and currently serves on the National Youth Protection, Museum, and Nominating Committees of the Boy Scouts of America.
- Hazel Green, AL
Dan Coberly has more than 50 years of experience in
international Scouting and in military/government public affairs. A journalist,
editor, and author, he is the former CEO of C-Communications, a
disabled-veteran owned firm. Dan has served on BSA National Committees for
nearly 30 years, having lived and worked around the world, serving in 10
Councils within three Regions.
He is a Silver Buffalo Award recipient and
has received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, the Hornaday Gold Medal and
the Order of the Arrow Centurion medal.
A retired military officer, Dan
is a member of the U.S. Army Public Affairs Hall of Fame. He is a Baden
Powell Fellow, James West Fellow, NESA Legacy member and Friend of Gilwell.
Dr. Ken King
- Forked River, NJDr. Ken King
Ken is a retired school
administrator, having worked in the East Orange, New Jersey Public School
District for 46 years. He currently
provides consulting services to New Jersey School Districts, in the areas of
school leadership, human resources management and labor relations.
Ken is a Distinguished
Eagle, a NESA Life Member, a Silver Antelope, a Silver Beaver, a recipient of
the Whitney M. Young Service Award and a Vigil Honor. He currently serves as the Northeast Region
Commissioner and is Vice President for Endowment with the Northern New Jersey
Council. He has staffed several National
Jamborees and is preparing to staff the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.
He is Chairperson of the NESA Scholarship
Ken and his wife, Alease,
have three daughters and a son who is an Eagle Scout.
Dr. Michael Manyak
- Chevy Chase, MD
Michael Manyak, MD, FACS
Mike is an explorer, author, urologist, and corporate
medical executive with
expertise in biotechnology and cancer as well as expedition medicine. He is Global
Medical Affairs Executive Director for the GlaxoSmithKline urology
franchise. He is the Chief Medical
Advisor for Crisis Response for Accenture. He maintains academic appointments
as Adjunct Professor of Urology and Engineering at The George Washington
University (GWU) where he
spent 16 years, nine as Chairman of the Department of Urology.
Mike is a
Distinguished Eagle Scout and Vice President of the National Eagle Scout
Association (NESA) committee. He has
developed and leads the NESA World Explorer Program, sending
nationally-selected Eagles on expeditions to remote places.He is the co-producer and primary author for
the Exploration Merit Badge.
Mike maintains an avid
interest in field exploration and expedition medicine and his book Lizard
Bites & Street Riots addresses health, safety, and security for travel
emergencies. His expeditions
include being the medical officer or expedition leader on excursions to the
Titanic wreck, Central African jungles, the Mongolian desert, the Antarctic,
the Atocha Spanish treasure galleon, and to remote Tanzania evaluating new
early human footprints.

Lou Paulson is President
of California Professional Firefighters, representing more than 30,000 front
line first responders statewide.
He currently serves on
numerous state and national boards and committees, including the State Board of
Fire Services, Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change, the Executive Board of
the California Federation of Labor and the Advisory Board for the University of
California Labor Center.
Lou’s leadership in the
fire service is formed by a career of over three decades, most of which was
spent as a front line firefighter with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection
District. Hired 1984, Lou eventually rose to the rank of Captain.
Prior to becoming CPF
President, Lou also served as Health and Safety Director for both his local and
CPF, and was a consultant for the International Association of Fire Fighters’ Hazardous
Materials Program, as well as its Fallen Firefighter Oversight Committee. Lou
was one of the founding members of the IAFF/ IAFC Labor Management Partnership.
In his community, Lou has
served on the Diablo Fire Safe Council and the Los Medanos College Fire Science
Advisory Committee. He has received numerous commendations for his
service to the labor and fire service communities.
Lou is an Eagle Scout and
Past President of Mount Diablo Silverado Council. He has been awarded the
Silver Beaver, the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award, and Distinguished
Eagle Scout Award and is a Baden Powell Fellow.

Jason is the executive vice president, chief legal officer, and chief administrative officer for Sedgwick Inc., the leading North American provider of technology-enabled claims and productivity management solutions.
He also serves as a member of the National Order of the Arrow Committee, helping to lead outreach efforts for alumni and friends. Jason serves as area president for SR-6. He has served as council president, council commissioner, and in a variety of other council and district volunteer positions. He recently stepped down as a Cubmaster and is now enjoying being a volunteer leader with his son’s Boy Scout troop.
Jason and his wife also have a daughter. He has been an active Scout and Scouter for over 30 years..

Todd is a partner in the law firm Chapman and Cutler LLP focused on structured finance. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1998 (where he was a member of the Michigan Law Review). In 2015, he received the President of United States Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service.
He is a Distinguished Eagle Scout and helped launch NESA Chicago, which has become the model for NESA committees across the country. Todd serves as Vice-President of the National Eagle Scout Association for Jamborees, NOACs and special events.
In addition to being the father of five children, Todd is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 156 in Glenview, Illinois coordinating STEM initiatives.

Congressman Pete Sessions
Andrew is an associate with McKinsey &
Company in Philadelphia. He holds degrees in history and paleontology from Harvard University and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
He is an Eagle Scout and serves on the national Camping Task Force and as VP, Membership of the Summit Bechtel Reserve Staff Association.
He is a James E. West Fellow and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and Silver Antelope Award.

Joe Weingarten is a retired Aerospace Engineer with 11 patents, authored several
books and is credited with the development of the internal structural criteria that
all modern aircraft and spacecraft are based on today world-wide. As a young engineer
the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics selected him as the top
engineer in the nation. He currently is the last manufacturer in the United
States of Sterling Silver military insignia.
Joe is a Distinguished Eagle Scout and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and is
a James E. West Fellow. He is on the Area Committee, is Chair of the NESA
Awards and Recognition Committee and runs both the NESA and Scouting Alumni &
Friends merchandising on line stores. His son is also a Distinguished Eagle Scout
and grandson is now a Cub Scout.
- Irving, TX
Dustin, an Eagle Scout, began his career as a district Scout executive with the Oregon Trail Council in Eugene, Oregon. After serving as a senior district executive and district director with the Ore-Ida Council in Boise, Idaho, he became Scout executive of the Northeast Iowa Council in Dubuque, Iowa. Before assuming his current role, he worked as a major gifts director with the BSA Foundation.
As a Scout executive, he enjoyed great success identifying and helping to reconnect Scouting alumni through newsletters, email, and service opportunities at the unit, district, and council levels.
Farris is part of an active Scouting family. His oldest son is an Eagle Scout, his daughter participated in Venturing, and his younger son is a Scout where Farris serves as an assistant Scoutmaster. His wife, Cindy, has served as a Scouting leader, and many of the family's vacations revolve around Scouting and the outdoors.
- Irving, TX
Ryan, an Eagle Scout, became the Associate Director of SAF/NESA for the Boy Scouts of America in 2013. Prior to assuming the role, he served as Senior Development Director with the Chief Seattle Council. As a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Ryan helps direct and grow SAF and NESA groups across the country with the aim to build retention and grow Scouting in local councils.
A graduate of the University of Washington with two degrees, he began his professional Scouting career in 2002. Ryan is a Vigil Honor recipient and has earned his Wood Badge beads. Prior to becoming a professional with the Boy Scouts, he served as a Venturing advisor.
Ryan is married and has three children. He coaches soccer and serves as an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
